Monday we headed to Artscape, a theater historically reserved for white patrons that is now trying to confront issues of race and poverty through art. Artscape held a reception for us and our internship supervisors and together we discussed expectations and limitations of student interns in the context of South Africa. After the reception, we toured the building and learned a bit more about Artscape. We spent the rest of the day visiting internship sites including the Independent Electoral Commission which, on the eve of Provincial Elections, was a pretty hoppin' place to be.
